As a provisional test, I made the sim of mine with the most distinctive eye shape created in detailed mode (very round, almost circles, achieved by pulling the corners in on both sides), and made her have 6 kids. But I'm really doubtful about the more detailed changes. Because none of them have the large size characteristic of the eye presents (and which I always shrink on the parents when I'm creating them in CAS), I'm assuming the changes made in the basic sculpt mode are getting passed on too. The kids are definitely getting their parents presets (eyelashes or no eyelashes eyelid size & definition etc.). That is unrealistic to me.Īlso, I may be wrong about this one, but I have yet to see any changes made in 'detailed mode' being passed on to children. I've only had two grandchildren so far in TS4 so I haven't been able to tell whether they carried that feature over. However, TS3 did include a chance of kids getting the grandparents' hair or eye colour, which helped give at least the illusion of more complex genetics, and for me helped families feel more 'together' somehow. It happens way too often, and it's usually that ugly greenish brown colour you end up getting. Those random colours are horrible in TS3. That went horribly wrong most of the time. Sims 3 tried to cheat this in by having a 'random' color selected. Without D/R there's no chance of some color from great grandparent or beyond to suddenly show up like they did in S2 and RL. The way it actually works hasn't been picked apart yet, but from what's shown so far, it seems the way the colors are selected is by randomly taking one from a parent (50/50) or possibly grandparents (like S3).

I think skin colors are blended or some such, but there is no dominant/recessive system like in S2. From what I understand of it, S4 has an either/or system with hair and eye colors.
